SEGi’s Department of Information Technology took a major step in shaping future tech professionals by conducting a Project Proposal Defense for Diploma in IT students. Held at the Business Simulation Room, this rigorous session challenged students to justify, refine, and validate their project ideas before moving into development, ensuring they grasp essential software engineering principles such as requirement analysis, feasibility study, and design validation. By engaging with academic and industry experts, students gained valuable real-world insights that strengthened their projects and aligned them with current industry expectations.

The Project Proposal Defense is a crucial milestone in software development education, fostering logical thinking, structured problem-solving, and innovative approaches. External experts, including Dr. Chau Kien Tsong from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Lee Chong Wei from Keysight, provided in-depth critiques and industry-driven feedback. Dr. Chau highlighted the importance of bridging research with emerging technologies, while Lee stressed software quality assurance and product reliability, key considerations in a field where software failures cost the global economy over USD 1.7 trillion annually.
