Vibe the Night Away: A Glamorous Night with Faculty of Business, Accountancy and Law (FOBAL)

Purple hues and twinkling lights enveloped the Multi-Purpose Hall of SEGi University, transporting students, academic staff and administrative members from the Faculty of Business, Accountancy and Law (FOBAL) into a techno-glam world, away from business theories, accounting sheets and legal clauses.

Organised by FOBAL senior lecturer Dr Sudhashini Nair, FOBAL lecturer Mr Ravindaran A/L Seniasamy, as well as the FOBAL student committee, the FOBAL Gala Night served as a gathering where students and academic staff bond over shared interests and experiences as well as have fun outside of academic commitments.

The evening commenced with an inspiring opening address by Associate Professor Dr. Irene Tan Ai Lian, Dean of the Graduate Business School (GSB) and FOBAL. Her speech highlighted the faculty’s achievements over the past year and emphasized the importance of unity, excellence, and continuous growth within the SEGi community.

Following the opening remarks, the programme proceeded with the Best Subject Awards and Staff Appreciation Awards for 2025, celebrating outstanding academic performance and recognizing dedicated staff contributions.

The night was further enlivened by a variety of cultural and contemporary performances, including energetic K-pop dance routines, a vibrant Giddha performance, an elegant Chinese traditional dance, and a special dance showcase by the Seychellois students. Additionally, the audience enjoyed soulful song renditions by both current students and alumni, adding a heart-warming touch to the evening.

The gala also featured a Best Dressed Award, culminating in one of the event’s highlights—the crowning of the FOBAL Gala Night Prom King and Prom Queen, marking a memorable conclusion to an evening filled with celebration, talent, and camaraderie.

The FOBAL Gala Night Prom King was awarded to Galindawaththage Prabhath Isuru Sameera from Bachelor of Business Management while Prom Queen was awarded to Jasmynn Esmeralda Roch from Diploma in Accountancy.

The crowns and sash were sponsored by theMalaysia Borneo Cultural and Heritage Association Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Selangor (MANTRA) alongside FOBAL’s very own staff member, Mr Gilbert Katang.

The FOBAL Gala Night is a testament to how SEGi students can thrive both academically and socially, creating a wholesome university experience for not just the students, but also for academic staff.
