SEGi University recently held its 27th Convocation Ceremony on 29 June 2024, honouring the academic achievements of 585 graduating students. The event, divided into two sessions, highlighted the university’s dedication to nurturing future leaders and innovators.
Notable VIPs graced the ceremony as SEGi University conferred honorary degrees upon two distinguished individuals, the Governor of Penang Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Bin Haji Abdul Razak and Business Maverick YBhg. Datuk Joseph Dominic Silva. Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi received an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy (Management). This conferment recognises his 37 years of dedicated service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his significant contributions to diplomacy and societal welfare, including his role as Director-General of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) and his philanthropic efforts with organisations such as the Malaysia-China Cultural Association and Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital.
Meanwhile, YBhg. Datuk Silva was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration. This recognition is a testament to his illustrious career spanning over 33 years, with significant contributions to the financial services industry and national development efforts. Datuk Silva’s work includes developing Malaysia’s local currency bond market, facilitating financial stability during the COVID-19 pandemic, and advising Malaysia Airlines during the 2014 crisis. His role in academia, mentoring students in Business and Financial Planning, and involvement in the Khazanah Nasional Graduate Trainee Programme further underscore his commitment to education and industry collaboration.
