Behind Every Smart Financial Decision Is a Story Like This

SEGi’s Faculty of Business & Accountancy (FOBA) provided students with an eye-opening industry experience during a financial literacy talk held on 19 March 2025 at Theatre Hall, Level 5. The session featured a dynamic panel of professionals from the finance and insurance sectors, each sharing their real-world journeys and practical advice on financial security, planning, and career development.

The speakers brought a blend of experience and relatability, bridging textbook knowledge with the realities of the financial world. Lawrence, a financial planner with more than two decades of experience, emphasised mentorship and the long-term value of building client trust. Marisa, a recognised leader in life insurance, encouraged students to view setbacks as stepping stones, while Sherwen shared how discipline and commitment allowed him to excel in insurance while still pursuing his degree. Janice, who pivoted from interior design to finance, inspired the audience with her story of blending creativity with financial strategy.
