In tribute to World Environment Day 2025, SEGi took the lead in a bold, hands-on initiative to raise environmental consciousness among youth and the wider community. In collaboration with Hompton by the Beach Penang, the “Waves of Change Beach Clean-up” was more than a symbolic act — it was a powerful statement about shared responsibility and the urgent need to protect our ecosystems where land and sea collide.
Though this year’s global theme focused on “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” the clean-up initiative highlighted the essential link between terrestrial and marine environments. Coastlines are not only biodiversity hotspots, but also the first line of defence against climate change and pollution. By cleaning the shorelines, participants were directly contributing to the health of both land and ocean — two systems deeply intertwined.
