On November 9th, Mohamed Arieff Shamida, Anna Phang, Wan Nur Jannah, and Nazeila Zahidin, representing FOELPM, actively participated in “English Quest,” an engaging event designed to foster the enjoyment of learning English. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) for Quality Education and SDG 17 focusing on Partnership for Education, this initiative was orchestrated by Bachelor of Education students.
These dedicated students curated six interactive stations, each dedicated to enhancing specific aspects of English language skills, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The event, hosted for 200 fifth-grade students from SK Seksyen 6, Kota Damansara, aimed to bring a lively and varied learning experience through diverse teaching approaches.
English Quest served as a valuable community outreach effort, providing an opportunity for primary school students to apply innovative teaching methods learned by the Bachelors in Education students. Participants were drawn from three courses: Approaches to TESL, Introduction to Curriculum and Pedagogy, and Arts Education in Early Childhood: Creative and Aesthetic Expression.
Highlighting the occasion were stage plays featuring popular tales such as Moana and The Wizard of Oz, contributing to the overall success of the event. The participating students not only reveled in the enjoyable activities but also actively utilized and honed their English language skills throughout the diverse range of engagements.
