On the 27th of September, 2023, at 2:30 pm, the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & Information Technology (FOEBEIT) at SEGi University hosted an enlightening event, the “IEM Membership Talk.” This event was not just a casual gathering; it had a distinct purpose that aimed to inspire, inform, and engage the students of FOEBEIT.
The primary objective of this event was to promote the IEM (The Institution of Engineers, Malaysian) organization and its student section. It aimed to introduce students to the world of engineering beyond the classroom and provide insights into the benefits of becoming members of this esteemed organization.
The event had a unique selling point – the empowerment of future engineers. By participating in this membership talk, students had the opportunity to learn about the IEM and its offerings, gaining a broader perspective on their future careers in engineering. The event not only offered information but also aimed to stimulate thoughts, encouraging students to think about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
The event featured Ir. Professor Dr. Jeffrey Chiang as the guest speaker, a distinguished figure in the field of engineering. His presence added value to the event, and his insights inspired students to consider the vast possibilities in the engineering industry.
Additionally, several lecturers from FOEBEIT were present during the event, showing their support for the initiative and reinforcing the importance of such talks in shaping the future of engineering students.
Beyond the wealth of information and inspiration provided, the event also offered a moment of relaxation and interaction with refreshments provided for the participants.
The “IEM Membership Talk at SEGi University” was more than just an informational session. It was a platform that aimed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world engineering, empowering students to become proactive members of the engineering community. By promoting the IEM and its student section, the event paved the way for students to explore the vast horizons of engineering and build a solid foundation for their future careers.
