SEGi’s Faculty of Creative Arts Design and Information Technology, and Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, recently hosted a transformative workshop on academic writing and creative works copyrights. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge, making it an enlightening and empowering experience. Led by Dayang Norsheila Binti Abang Mohtar and her manager, Wan Abdul Rahman bin Wan Bujang from Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Rahman Ya’kub (PeTARY) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), the workshop covered crucial aspects of referencing and copyright.
The workshop comprised two sessions. In the morning, Dayang Norsheila focused on academic writing referencing, exploring citation styles, paraphrasing techniques, and the importance of avoiding plagiarism. Interactive discussions and practical exercises provided students with a deeper understanding of integrating proper referencing into their academic work.
