SEGi’s School of MPU brought environmental education to life through A Step For Me To Help The Tree—a student-led tree planting initiative held on 19 March 2025 at Taman Tugu Nursery, Kuala Lumpur. Organised in collaboration with Free Tree Society, the event mobilised students to actively contribute to environmental restoration efforts, while deepening their understanding of sustainability, biodiversity, and personal responsibility toward the planet.
More than just a symbolic gesture, the event marked a tangible commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land, which calls for the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. With hands in the soil and purpose in their actions, students planted native trees that will contribute to carbon sequestration, habitat creation, and urban cooling in the years to come. This is particularly crucial as Malaysia loses forest cover at an alarming rate—over 2.7 million hectares between 2001 and 2021 alone.
