Training the Engineers Who Will Build a Greener Tomorrow

On 21 July 2025, engineering students from SEGi University embarked on an immersive industrial visit to Daikin Malaysia, a global leader in sustainable HVAC innovation. The visit offered students from the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechatronic Engineering programmes a rare opportunity to witness real-world applications of classroom theory in a high-tech, energy-efficient manufacturing environment.

Designed to enhance academic learning with industry exposure, the visit underscored the role of engineering education in solving global environmental challenges. With buildings accounting for nearly 40% of global energy use and over one-third of greenhouse gas emissions, the need for next-generation engineers to drive low-carbon, high-efficiency solutions has never been greater. Engaging with real-world processes in smart factories like Daikin’s is not just a learning experience — it’s a catalyst for creating sustainable, future-ready graduates.
