WHAT ENGINEERING STUDENTS REALLY LEARNED FROM YAKULT

Students from the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Centre for Pre-University Studies programmes had the opportunity to bridge theory and industry practice during an immersive industrial visit to Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd on 30 June 2025. The visit was part of SEGi University’s commitment to integrating real-world exposure into academic development, ensuring that students are not only academically proficient but also industry-ready.

Upon arrival at the Yakult facility, the group was warmly welcomed by PR & Science Coordinator Liew Wan Hui, who introduced students to Yakult’s corporate values and sustainability efforts. The experience began with light refreshments, followed by a comprehensive factory tour that unveiled the intricacies of probiotic beverage production, from the preparation of Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain to high-speed bottling and packaging operations.
