What Happens When You Run in the Dark for a Brighter Future? This.

12 April 2025 marked a night of purpose and momentum as the “Lights Out: Power Off, Future On” campaign culminated in an electrifying 5km Lights Out Night Run around SEGi University’s campus. Organised by final-year Mass Communication students from the School of Communication & Creative Design, the event was part of their Communication and Campaign course, demonstrating how impactful student-led initiatives can be when they align learning with real-world causes.

Over 200 runners took part in the symbolic race, held in the dark to emphasise the importance of energy conservation and reducing carbon emissions. The campaign highlighted the urgent call for Sustainable Development Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy – bringing together community members, educators, and NGOs in a collective movement toward a more sustainable future.
