A team of SEGi students from the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Year 5, Research Group 9) programme has been declared the winner of the Oral Research Presentation competition held during the International Dental Student Conference 2022 (UKMiDSC).
The UKMiDSC 2022 was organised by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and was held virtually on 16 April 2022. Themed ‘Dentistry: Reason Behind a Smile’, the one-day virtual conference was open to both local and international dental undergraduate students and aimed at exchanging ideas, knowledge, and experience in the field of dentistry.
SEGi was the only private university competing in the oral paper presentation competition, represented by:

- Neeraj Malhotra (Research Supervisor)
The BDS students’ presentation titled “The Erosive Potential of Commercial and Homemade Kombucha Tea on Enamel: An In-vitro Study” was awarded the Gold Medal and a cash prize of RM200. The competition was participated by a total of 10 teams from both local and international universities, namely the University of Malaya (UM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), as well as Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (UNJANI) and Lambung Mangkurat University (LAMBUNG MAN).
The teams were given seven minutes to present their research, followed by a Q&A session with the panel of judges, comprising:

The Faculty of Dentistry extends its appreciation and special thanks to the research supervisor (Dr. Neeraj Malhotra), Deputy Dean Academics (Assoc.
