Yuhashinee’s research, titled “Knowledge, Perception, and Practice of Proper Medication Disposal among the General Public in Malaysia,” delves into a crucial issue that often goes unnoticed – the proper disposal of unused medicines. Under the mentorship of Mr. Tan Kien Sin, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy at SEGi University, Yuhashinee embarked on a journey fueled by her passion for creating a positive impact on healthcare resources and environmental safety.
Her inspiration came from a realization: the improper disposal of medicines poses immense challenges to both healthcare resources and environmental sustainability. Yuhashinee’s project was nurtured by her exposure to the ‘Return Your Medicines Programme,’ an initiative pioneered by the Ministry of Health and MPS-YPC. This exposure fortified her belief that raising public awareness about proper medication disposal is key to mitigating this issue in the long run.
