From the 9th to the 12th of October 2023, the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur buzzed with intellectual fervor as it hosted the 7th Congress of the Asia Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (AAMLS), in conjunction with the 32nd National Scientific Conference of the Malaysian Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MIMLS).
This four-day international congress was a convergence of brilliance, with a diverse array of activities that showcased the latest breakthroughs and innovations in the field of medical laboratory sciences. The agenda included keynote lectures, plenary lectures, symposiums, student forums, and poster presentations, covering all the major disciplines within this domain. It was a platform for experts and scholars to share insights, spark discussions, and collaborate towards the advancement of medical laboratory sciences.
AAMLS, which represents member associations from across Asia, played a pivotal role in bringing together professionals from Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and more. This collective effort was a testament to the importance of regional collaboration in furthering the field of medical laboratory sciences.
It is worth noting that MIMLS is a member of the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS), an organization comprising national societies from 36 countries, representing over 185,000 biomedical laboratory scientists and technologists globally.
Notably, Associate Professor Dr. Negar Shafiei Sabet from the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at SEGi University & Colleges had the honor of being invited as a “Guest Speaker.” She shared her expertise during the symposium titled “BIOMEDICAL LABORATORY EDUCATION.” Her contributions extended beyond speaking, as she also served as a judge for the Oral Presentation Competition and Session and chaired “SYMPOSIUM 12: IMMUNOLOGY AND CLINICAL CHEMISTRY.”
AAMLS 2023 was more than a congress; it was a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaborations, and advancing the field of medical laboratory sciences. It served as a testament to the dedication and passion of professionals working in this critical sector, ultimately contributing to the betterment of healthcare and medical research.
