The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), SEGi University Student Chapter, recently organised a field trip to the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The NCI was founded in September 2013 to tackle the growing challenges and requirements related to cancer in Malaysia by offering specialised medical facilities and treatments for cancer patients.
The participants gained invaluable insights into the outpatient and nuclear pharmacy departments during the visit. They had the privilege of learning about the different methods of dispensing anticancer medication and the measures pharmacists take to protect themselves from radiation exposure from radioactive medicine.
This field trip was an enriching and educational experience for the participants, who gained a deeper understanding of the treatment against cancer and the pivotal role of all medical providers and researchers in advancing the field.
