Global scholars advancing peace through sports

SEGi University held a distinguished gathering of scholars and experts from renowned institutions across the globe. The event was graced by the presence of Datin Prof. Dr. Mariani Md. Nor, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Languages, Psychology & Music (FoELPM) and Head of Research at the Centre of Excellence in Educational Innovation & Technology Leadership (CEEITL), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Boon Hooi, Associate Professor at FoELPM, and Dr. Ena Bhattacharyya, Head of Sustainability Cluster, FoELPM, marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to promoting peace through sports and fostering collaborative research initiatives.

The esteemed guests included Prof. Lee Jong-Young, Prof. Jo Ki-Jung, Prof. Kim JinHwan, and Lee Jang-Hyun from Peace Sports, The University of Suwon, Korea, and Sookmyung Women’s University, as well as Dr. Pintu Modak from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani Campus, Rajasthan, India. This diverse gathering of scholars and experts converged at SEGi University’s Dentistry Meeting Room, where they engaged in insightful discussions on the transformative power of sports in fostering peace and explored avenues for collaborative research.

The discussions delved into the multifaceted role of sports in promoting global unity, conflict resolution, and intercultural understanding. Participants shared their experiences and perspectives on leveraging sports as a catalyst for positive change, bringing communities together, and cultivating a culture of peace and tolerance.
