A Panel and Time Series Workshop held on 29 October 2025 brought together students and academic staff at SEGi University & College, Kota Damansara, for an engaging exploration of advanced econometric techniques and their practical applications.
The session was led by Mr. Muhammad Muslim Bin Samsudin, a lecturer specialising in Economics from the Faculty of Business, Accountancy & Law (FOBAL), and organised by Dr. Sudhashini Nair, Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA),Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Senior Lecturer and Leader of the Centre for Accounting & Finance. This initiative formed part of the Faculty’s continuous efforts to strengthen research excellence and cultivate a vibrant academic culture grounded in analytical rigour and collaboration.

Throughout the workshop, Mr. Muhammad Muslim provided valuable insights into the use of panel data and time series analysis in empirical research, emphasising their importance in economic forecasting, policy evaluation, and strategic business decision-making. Participants delved into the fundamentals of econometric modelling, covering data preparation, model selection, and interpretation of results using statistical software.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants shared their research challenges, exchanged ideas, and explored innovative approaches to data analysis. Many praised the workshop for its clear, hands-on approach that made complex quantitative methods both accessible and relevant to their own research pursuits.
This initiative underscores SEGi’s commitment to continuous professional development, empowering its academic community to think critically, collaborate effectively, and apply data-driven insights to real-world problems.
