International Women’s Day 2023, with its theme Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality, focuses on the necessity of preserving the rights of women and girls in digital environments and fighting online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence. It also explores the implications of the growing economic and social disparities caused by the digital gender gap.
To mark the day, SEGi University’s Faculty of Business, Accounting and Law, under the guidance of their Senior Lecturer, Dilashenyi Devi, organised and hosted an event to honour twenty-two Malaysian women from diverse industries for their accomplishments and to promote women’s ongoing efforts to achieve equality as they pursue careers in stereotypically masculine fields.
Stella Lau, Managing Director of SEGi University and Colleges, gave her opening speech highlighting this opportunity to evaluate achievements, advocate for change, and celebrate the bravery and tenacity of everyday women who have made tremendous contributions to the history of their nations and communities.
