DATO’ JOHN TIONG TAK CHONG

Dato’ John Tiong was appointed to the Board on 15 January 2025 as an Executive Director.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Monash University, Australia, and a Diploma in Computing from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.

Dato’ John began his career in the information technology sector with the Syslink Group before transitioning into education. In 2005, he acquired and transformed several private higher education institutions and vocational colleges across Malaysia, leading them as Group CEO. With more than 20 years of experience in the education industry, he has been instrumental in converting vocational training centres into recognised colleges.

From 2006 to 2012, he served as a board member of Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK) under the Ministry of Human Resources. Over the years, he has been actively involved in industries such as healthcare, property, construction, and education, holding key management roles.

Committed to advancing education, Dato’ John has played a pivotal role in government initiatives supporting the education and training of Sarawak’s indigenous communities, including the Penan and other minority ethnic groups. In recognition of his contributions, he was appointed as Pemanca for Kuching City Chinese Community Leader by the Sarawak Government in 2020.

Dato’ John is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of HCK Capital Group Berhad.
