Musical Bonds: SEGians Celebrate ASEAN-Japan Friendship in Malaysia

Sponsored by Japan Airlines and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, the event was a tribute to the 50th ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation anniversary, organized by the Japan Foundation (JF). This concert served as a testament to the enduring partnership between ASEAN nations and Japan, embodying a shared commitment to regional harmony and prosperity. The aim was not only to celebrate this longstanding alliance but also to showcase the unique musical traditions of Japan and Malaysia, bridging cultures through the universal language of music.

Under the bright lights of Stage1 Theatre, the students from SEGi University and SEGi College were treated to an enchanting blend of traditional Japanese folk music, known as minyo, and the mesmerizing sounds of Malaysia. The performances featured the renowned MIKAGE PROJECT and Malaysia’s traditional music sensation, Asmidar, creating an atmosphere filled with cultural richness and artistic brilliance. The students were not only passive observers but active participants in this musical extravaganza, experiencing firsthand the magic of cross-cultural collaboration and artistic expression.
