On a quiet Tuesday morning at SEGi University’s Google Classroom in Kota Damansara, a group of Quantity Surveying students gathered with a sense of anticipation. They weren’t just attending another academic session. They were stepping into a conversation that could shape the direction of their future careers – a RICS Talk that promised insight, clarity and inspiration.
The atmosphere shifted the moment Sr Dainna Baharudin from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) entered the room. Her presence carried both warmth and authority. Instead of diving straight into technicalities, she began with a personal story – how her own professional journey unfolded, the challenges she faced, and what it meant to finally earn her Chartered status.
The room leaned in. The students weren’t just listening; they were imagining what their futures could look like.
A Glimpse into the Pathway of Chartered Success
As Sr Dainna guided the group through the RICS membership process, the path that often seems complex started to make sense. She explained each stage of the APC, broke down the competencies required and highlighted the values that define a Chartered Surveyor – professionalism, ethical practice and a commitment to continuous growth.
Her insights sparked conversations among the students. They asked questions, shared concerns and began reflecting on their own aspirations. For many, this was the first time the profession felt within reach. The talk became more than just an information session. It became a roadmap.
A Meaningful Moment for Aspiring Surveyors
"(《世界人权宣言》) 21 students in attendance found themselves inspired in ways they didn’t expect. Some realised the importance of planning early. Others identified the skills they need to develop. Lecturers observed with pride as their students connected their academic learning to global standards and real industry expectations.
What started as a guest talk quickly evolved into a turning point – a moment where the future felt clearer.
