SEGi University on Children’s Vision Care

In a significant event for eye health awareness, SEGi University’s Faculty of Optometry & Vision Sciences made a notable impact at the North Court of IOI Mall Puchong. Azam NH Azmi, a senior lecturer from the faculty, was invited by Focus Point, Malaysia’s largest optical chain store, to deliver a public lecture on 27 July 2024. The event drew a crowd eager to gain insights into children’s vision and eye health.

Azam’s presentation underscored the importance of early detection and intervention in children’s vision issues. He highlighted that vision problems in children are often overlooked, which can significantly hinder their learning and development. The lecture emphasized the necessity of regular eye examinations, noting that many vision impairments are easily correctable if diagnosed early.

Parents and their children received valuable guidance on recognizing signs of vision problems and the steps to take if issues are suspected. Azam also discussed the latest advancements in paediatric optometry, providing hope and reassurance to those concerned about their children’s visual health.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):

  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being)
  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)
