SEGi University marked an important milestone on 12 September 2025 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII). The ceremony took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre during the annual Engineer & MARVEX 2025 event series organised by the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), bringing together distinguished leaders from both nations’ engineering communities.
The event began with an address by Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, MBA., IPU., ASEAN Eng, President of PII, who highlighted the importance of strengthening regional collaboration in engineering education and professional development. His remarks set the tone for a partnership grounded in shared aspirations to advance engineering knowledge and capability across ASEAN. The ceremony was also honoured by the presence of His Excellency Dato’ Indera Hermono, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Malaysia, who witnessed the signing as a symbol of strong bilateral ties and cooperative growth.
Representing SEGi University, Prof. ChM Dr. Sharon Teh Geok Bee, Vice Chancellor, expressed the university’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships that enhance academic excellence, research innovation and industry relevance. She emphasised that this MOU opens doors to new opportunities for collaborative research, engineering technology development, talent mobility and professional exchanges between SEGi and PII.
More than a formal agreement, the signing symbolises the beginning of a strategic partnership that brings together educators, practitioners and professionals from both Malaysia and Indonesia. It reflects a shared belief in the value of regional cooperation in shaping future-ready engineers and creating platforms for innovation that benefit the wider ASEAN community.
